Martian Screaming Missile Rifle by Tudor Rose

I wuz gobsmacked when I saw this on eBay last year when researching Dalek toy guns.

One I'd never seen before and certainly a rarity, this is the 30" long Martian Screaming Missile Gun, the M.S.M.G, made by those gorgeous toy makers, Tudor Rose.

With an eye-watering price tag, I saved the pictures for later. It eventually sold I think and some lucky Buck will be making martians tremble everywhere!

Not sure who the creatures are on the box? General martians?

Overall it has a feel of the big Dr.Who bazooka I covered - and made - last year.

A bazooka style toy in a huge box, it's the first time I've ever come across this toy. Is it one you know?

OUR DOCTOR WHO CUSTOM TOY GUNS PROJECT COMPLETED!

I've had this book for about 30 years now, Doctor Who The Sixties.

 

I've always loved the toy section and in particular the Dr. Who toy gun display bottom right.

It was this picture that first gave me the idea to recreate it by making my own toy guns.

and here it is, mine and Bill's custom toy gun gallery done and dusted in the style of the above [I've mirrored the jet Immobiliser, as I only have the one].

and here are a few more shots of our custom WHO toys. Bill created all the box art and I made or sourced the toys/ assembled the boxes.

The scratch-made toys are the big Neutron-Exterminator, the Dalek Rocket Gun and the bigger Anti-Dalek Disintegrator pictured above.

The replica toys sourced and bought are the Jet Immobiliser [Billy water pistol, Germany; thanks Jo], the smaller yellow Anti-Dalek Disintegrator [Stun-Gun, UK, thanks Bill], Anti-Dalek Fluid Neutraliser [ outlaw style water pistol, UK] and the Dalek Astro Ray Gun [modern Astro Ray, USA, thanks Terranova47].

and finally, a monochrome pic as it might have appeared in a comic like TV21.

TOM BAKER'S CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FROM CYGNUS ALPHA EVENTS

 

The great Tom Baker's Christmas message over on Cygnus Alpha Events on You Tube. He's 91. I thought I'd put in on MC [and I assume its not AI!]

The 4th Doc, Tom and his scarf, was part of that magnificent back-to-back pairing from my own generation's Dr. Who, with the fabulous Jon Pertwee immediately before him as the 3rd, my personal favourite.

DOCTOR! DOCTOR! Two More Home-Made Dr.Who Toy Guns

 I had some real luck sourcing toy guns for my Dr. Who project this Autumn.

 I made the first three myself and thought I'd invest in real and inexpensive toys as close to the originals as possible for the next three.

Two are finished. The original 1966 toys are both pictured on the superb Space Museum page 2.

I managed to pick up this vintage blue Billy Gun water pistol in Germany for a very good price. It's a dead ringer for the Dr. Who original and mounted on Wotan Bill's fabulous repro art, which I glued to card, a team effort, its turned out really really well I think. Hope you agree. 

Dr. Who's Anti-Dalek Jet Immobiliser

Similarly, I dropped on with a really good price 'outlaw' style water pistol as part of a bundle. The original Dr.Who version was silver but I've left left mine as it is. It's certainly the right shape and again, mounted on Wotan Bill's brilliant repro card art, it's not bad at all I reckon.

THE DR.WHO ANTI-DALEK SONIC DISINTE-GRATOR: ITS A LOT OF HOT AIR!

I've started my next Do-It-Yourself Dalek toy gun, Lincoln International's 1965 Dr. Who Anti-Dalek Sonic Disintegrator.

My reference point for this scarce toy is this image on Christopher Hill's fabulous Space Museum gallery. There are a few more on the net too such as Worthpoint.

Setting off, this great looking vintage hot air stripper was a steal on Ebay and I hoped would give my project a real first blast.

I kicked off by taking it apart, which was great fun!

I then started building up the various parts of the barrel. Still a way to go!

I'm still not sure how this is all going to turn out: it could really be a lot of hot air!

Early days yet so I'll not be worrying Skaro's Finest any time soon.

I need a banana.
